Jackie: (Still calm and cool as laughter surrounds her) I don't know if they were expecting me to sing it...

Peter: "Where you Are"... Tell us how successful that has been.

(They all look excitedly at each other... giggling.)

Lilian: Number 4 on the MTV Base Charts...

Mya: Who's number 1?... First tell them...

Jackie: Oh number 1 is Black Eyed Peas... Number 2 is some... Republic something... I really don't know...

Lilian: They are from South Africa...

Jackie: Number 3 is Knock You Down... Number 4 is B... B... B...

Lilian, Jackie and Mya: (All together dancing to Jackie's beat boxing.) Blu Threeee... (They all laugh.)

Peter: How long has it been in the Top 10?

Lilian: Where You Are has been like... what... 3 weeks now? 4 weeks? Cuz on the African Charts we're number 2. And Base Charts itself where you have all these international artists... we're are number 4.

Peter: Nice...

Lilian: And in Uganda it has been Number 1 for... (Trying to think...)

Mya: (Laughs with pride.) Haha... Its been a while.

Peter: What do you have to say to all the haters who were...

Lilian: (To some tune) Keep on hating... Keep on hating...

(She speaks emphatically as if she really wants to thank them.) Cuz they make us do what we can do best.

Peter: So you love the haters...

Lilian: (Clearly having fun with this topic) You know... You need haters in your life. Everybody needs someone who hates them... Cuz that means you are doing SOMETHING and they are simply jealous.

(We all laugh.)

Peter: Back to Where You Are. Tell us about collaborating with Radio and Weasel.

Jackie: (In thought) You know... We had already thought about it... You know Steve one time said you guys should probably hook up and do something. Cuz he thought that Moze is actually a very good singer...

So we get to the studio and the first time they are there, they come up with this DISASTROUS song...

(There is loud laughter...)

Lilian: Yes...

(There is still laughter...)

Jackie: (Calm and cool as she entertains the rest of us...) I thought...

Lilian: I didn't even stay in the studio...

Peter: A different song?... than the one you actually ended up with...

Mya: Ya!! (There is still laughter. And everyone seems to want to say something.) Not "Where You Are"... It was another song altogether.

Jackie: (Still calm and cool as laughter surrounds her) I don't know if they were expecting me to sing it...

Mya and Lilian: (They sing. Jackee joins in towards the end.) Nyabo... Jo... Jo... Njangu eno gendi... Jo... Jo... (They are still giggling away as they clearly sing some miserable tune.)

Lilian: It was really...

Mya and Jackie: (Continue to sing.) Jo... jo... jo... jo...

Jackie: It was terrible!

Lilian: I thought Blu 3...

Jackie: And... We just put down the track and they were like... we'll come back tomorrow and finish it.

So when the boys left we talked to Benon... and said... Benon... You know... This is not our style. This is not our kind of music. It was probably going to be a nice song but - It is not us.

(They all laugh.)

This is not our language... Ya?

So we came back early the following day... me and Lilian... and Benon was working on the...

Peter: Now with Benon you are talking about Benon from Benon and Vamposs?

Lilian: Yeah... He produced the song...

Peter: Aaah... Nice! I've met him a few times... Good to hear that...

Jackie: He was working on a track... Then Lilian was reading a magazine... All of a sudden... she just comes up with...

Lilian: (Singing...) I wanna be right there where you are...

Jackie: Then I'm like. (Singing) Where you are...

(Everyone is laughing and amused as Lilian and Jackie clown around.)

Then I was like... What was that?... What did you say?... (Making pencil-and-paper movements with her hands.)

So that's how it came up. Then when the boys came in later we just told them... You know... Drop something in...

What we did is... We laid down the bed... everything that was required...

Lilian: So when they came they found a totally different song...

(All are back to laughing out loud... Some of the laughter is guilty at this point.)

Jackie: They found a different song and were like... "Huh??"

Lilian: But they listened to it and they were like "nice!" Radio started writing in his part. Then Weasel wrote his part. (Shrugs as if in disbelief.) And then that's how the song happened. But they are really cool guys to work with...

Peter: (Interupting) Yeah? They are hard working guys...

Lilian: (Continuing where she left off) ...sometimes.

(Louder than ever laughter continues. Radio and Weasel... sorry guys... These girls won't stop.)

Lilian: (Above the laughter as if diplomatically trying to clean up) They do things the way they wanna do them. They do things on their own terms. But... they also happened to find girls who are quite head-strong and big headed just like they are. So we were banging heads.

Peter: What came out was a good product...

Lilian: Actually Radio said that when he heard what we had sung he was like... I'm dealing with Blu 3... I have to step up my game.

(The laughter again... Clearly these girls love to laugh...)

That's why all of them sounded really good.
